About me

My name is Orit Rosen, I am an Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.

I have worked with diverse populations of children and adolescents in various settings; schools, family centres and a refuge centre for women and children experiencing domestic violence.

I am passionate about helping young people navigate the complex and often challenging world of childhood and adolescence. Young people may experience difficulties at home or at school and struggle to express the way they feel.  They may instead show their emotions, often forms of anxiety and/or depression, through their behaviours, such as self-harm and eating disorders.

I currently work in private practice with children, adolescents and parents.

Alongside my private practice, I work for Rephael House, a leading independent charity in primary and secondary schools, providing one-to-one therapy and consultancy for teachers and parents.

I hold a Masters Degree in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling awarded by Terapia (In conjunction with Middlesex University) and a BSc in Psychology from City University. My degrees and training are fully accredited by the UKCP.

I am passionate about helping young people navigate the complex and often challenging world of childhood and adolescence. Young people may encounter difficulties at home or school and find it challenging to articulate their emotions effectively. Instead, they may ‘show’ their emotions which often manifest as forms of anxiety and/or depression through behaviours such as aggression, acting out, self-harm, or eating disorders.

I currently work in private practice with children, adolescents and parents.

Our journey begins with an initial complimentary phone or Zoom consultation, providing an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have. Together, we will delve into aspects such as the child's developmental history, family dynamics, and social relationships. The goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the child's strengths, challenges, and specific therapeutic needs.

Initial chat

These first few sessions foster a safe and inviting space where the child feels at ease to share their thoughts and emotions. Cultivating a positive rapport is essential for establishing trust and laying the groundwork for a strong therapeutic relationship. During these sessions, I encourage the child to express their feelings and thoughts through play and other expressive techniques, particularly for younger children who may find it difficult to verbalise their emotions.

Assessment sessions

Schedule a Zoom with the parents to discuss the assessment outcomes and collaborate on a personalised therapeutic plan tailored to the child's unique needs. This session will facilitate the establishment of clear therapy goals and determine the appropriate duration of treatment, whether short-term or long-term (at least one term).

Therapeutic process – what to expect

“You see a child play, and it is so close to seeing an artist paint, for in play a child say things without uttering a word.”

E. Erikson

“Toys are children’s words
and play is their language”

G. L. Landreth

“Entre into children’s play, and you will find the place where

their mind, hearts and soul meet”

V. Axline

Children/Adolescents

My integrative approach to therapy combines elements from multiple theoretical perspectives, including psychodynamic, cognitive–behavioural, child-centred and attachment.

As adults, we may face difficulties that impact our emotional well-being, relationships, and overall sense of fulfilment. Therapy can be a powerful tool to navigate these challenges and emerge feeling empowered.
